Found this guy at GameStop, and really happy I did, bc I really wanted to get him. He was also the only one of his kind in the store, so I claimed him before someone else could 😝
Included a couple close up shots of the fig because I noticed when I was trying to pose him that he has SPARKLES on him! This Super Sonic has SPARKLES on him guys!!! The sparkles are really hard to see, but I promise you they are there 😝
And now that I have this guy, I have a total of 4 Super Sonics in my entire Sonic collection (a plush included)

Metal Knuckles receiving a Funko Pop and Fang receiving a Jakks Pacific 2.5 Figure (as well as Trip being announced to get one too in the next wave) all in the past year strikes a very interesting development in terms of Sonic Merchandising!
For the longest time the characters available to be used in Classic Sonic merchandising have always been Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Dr. Eggman, Metal Sonic and Super Sonic. It's always been this way since 2009 when First 4 Figures first released a line of figurines done in the Classic Style. (Two years before Sonic Generations by the way!)
And every company afterwards followed the same trend. (... Not always. Amy and Metal Sonic's inclusion is always dependent on if the company has enough ''character slots'' to fit them and Eggman's status as a non-animal villain puts him in a unique position where he's sometimes included sometimes not but yknow potato potato) Regardless, for the longest time no other character was /added/ to that 7 piece lineup.
That is... until the release of Sonic Mania Plus in 2018, bringing back two beloved characters Mighty and Ray into the Classic spotlight. And not as cameo characters either but as main protagonists in their own right.
Now a little background is needed, for the longest time a toy company called Jazwares held the license for making Sonic articluated figurines (there were a few others who had the license too but Jazwares was THE head bitch in the industry), they lost the license in 2013/2014 to Tomy who would go on to make Sonic Boom Figurines and then regular figurines in 2017~. Tomy would lose that license to Jakks Pacific in 2019~.
During Jazwares run, they released their line of Classic figurines but lost the license before they could release Knuckles
(They have an eggman too btw just. not included in this pack)
And during Tomy's run, they released their own Classic line too in 2017 (bundled with a modern version of the characters figurine and a copy of a comic book from Archie Sonic themed around the character...
... well. supposed to be. Archie lost the license to the comics in the middle of the series so Sonic and Knuckles had Archie books while Tails and Metal Sonic were delayed.
The status of their releases (iirc) were actually really... doubtful... Keep in mind this was in the middle of Sega reviewing the Sonic licenses before Forces, after cutting Archie, Tomy was also on the chopping block. Thankfully the two released a year later in 2018, their initial comic books were replaced with english versions of Sonic Comics that were posted for Sonic's 25th anniversary. These were the only way you could get english versions of those comics I think?
Amy and Eggman were originally planned for this series as well, shown off in the 2017 catalogue that initially announced this line but Tomy lost the license soon after Tails and Metal Sonic release. The fact the two even released was kind of a hail mary, I think it was generally agreed back then that they were gonna be shelved and only got to release /because/ of those 25th Anni comics.
Jakks Pacific would get the toy license in 2019 but during their first year... they would only release /Modern/ Sonic figurines. And they didn't release waves of products as fast as they are nowadays. Back then each new announcement was like a dripping faucet. Hell, from what I remember, their very first line of products wasn't even articulated figures but stretchy figures?
We got the pinball figures in 2019 though,
Which at least told us that A) Jakks Pacific had the license for classic sonic products and B) Mighty! and Ray!!!! First ever merchandise!!! The lack of Amy though did set us in that weird limbo were people were wondering if Classic Amy would ever be acknowledged by Sega. Especially post Sonic Mania. Keep in mind 2017 was like that soft reset of the franchise and her not being in Mania at all, not being included in Tomy's classic merchline in 2017-2018, not being included in these pinball figurines, only ever being used in promotional stuff like the shorts and two posts on twitter... (at the time) like. Amy fans were really worried for her!!! It wasn't until Sonic's 30th IDW Comic where we finally get to see her again in any substantial form and that was all the way in 2021!
Anyway, we finally got the articulated figurines announced in 2020 but the first few lines... only had /modern/ sonic stuff.
The first two waves of both the 2.5 inch and 4 inch line only featured modern characters. Thankfully classic series figurines would be announced for both lines around Fall, classic sonic for the 2.5 inch line in December and...
THATS RIGHT BITCHES, MIGHTY FOR THE 4 INCH LINE
Releasing NOVEMBER 2020, our very first Classic Sonic articulated figurine and its MIGHTY. I remember being so hyped for that. It was kinda awkward since these were the first two classic toys and mighty was bigger. Thankfully Sonic would get a 4 inch figure in the wave in February but Mighty would get a 2.5 inch figure the much later in October.
Starting then classic characters would gradually be introduced in the figurine line. For 2.5 inches:
Tails would get his on January 2022
Amy on February 2022
Knuckles and Eggman on June 2022
And Ray! on September 2022! alongside Metal Sonic
After that badniks (and mecha sonic (2023)) would be joining the series throughout the years. The 4 inch line would see a similar path but with different characters kinda? After Sonic in February we would see:
Mecha Sonic and Eggman in August 2021
Eggrobo in June 2022
Ray in September 2022
Tails in February 2024
Knuckles in March 2024
Amy in September 2024
(Yes, the classic figures really wouldnt get that much releases in the 4'' line ironically enough. It's kinda accepted that, proportions wise, Classic Characters work better as 2.5 inchers and Modern Characters work better as 4 inchers. Eggman, Mecha Sonic and the hardboiled heavies would release as 4 inchers though and they work better in proportion with the 2.5 inch sonic and friends)
What was that? Yes! The hardboiled heavies finally receive 4'' figurines! Heavy Gunner in December 2023 and Heavy King in the next wave March 2024! finally after 7 years after their debut game!
The other heavies have yet to recieve figurines but it's only a matter of time really. Especially since Fang released as a 2.5'' last August and Trip will be getting hers before the end of the Fall.
Which brings us back to my original point, We're finally getting new characters in Classic Sonic merchandising! The Hardboiled heavies were long overdue, and I was hesitant to consider them as a pivotal moment,,, they're older characters and badniks for one thing. But Fang??? Metal Knuckles??? Trip? Something must have changed in Sega's product team and imo this bodes well for the future. I won't get my hopes up and expect Bean or Bark despite them appearing in Sonic Mania and yes while they've been really active as of late due to IDW Fang the Hunter miniseries, Fang's inclusion is definitely a Sonic Superstars thing. It's safer to assume that characters who get figurines are most likely going to be those who've made an appearance in games. Which brings us to Metal Knuckles. who's a Sonic R character, sure, but his design and recent release definitely points to Sonic Superstars... where he shares his minor role with Metal Amy, Tails and Trip.... look. I'm just saying. I'd much rather see the Metal series come to Jakks Pacific more than the badniks or Rocky or Flicky or whatever.

Dog Man X Jakks Pacific Toys / Disguise Costumes Collab
Jakks Pacific and Disguise Costumes joins with Dav Pilkey's Dog Man series to create new toys and costumes based from the popular book series. The upcoming collection (including plushies, action figures, playsets, costumes and accessories) will launch this early 2025 to coincide with DreamWorks Dog Man movie releasing on January 31, 2025.
For those who don't know about Jakks Pacific, it's a toy company who also makes toys based on Nintendo (including the Super Mario series), Sonic the Hedgehog and Disney. They also have a costume division, Disguise for costumes and accessories. I also collect Dog Man merchandise and I really can't wait for these!
Special thanks to D001 (Minions_Fanboy on X) for the report!

I don't go into my town centre often but today I did and I managed to find a pretty sizeable sonic haul:
Now I'm not a collector but I am starting to pick up most Sonic stuff I see since that is my special interest. So today we got:
-Sonic Colours (Wii) I've owned this game before but don't have my copy anymore. Good to add this back to my collection.
-Sonic Rush Adventure (DS) I've also played this game a lot through... Non-legitimate means. One of my favourites. Glad I found it!
-jakks Pacific Cream the Rabbit. Not rare. But I have a few other neat figures. They had tons of others in stock but I limited myself to one, and I like this figure a lot! She's cute!
-Sonic Heroes (GCN) I mean I've played pretty much every Sonic game so of course I've played this. But good to add it to my collection of GameCube sonic games, which at the moment is just this and SA2 Battle.
-Sonic the Hedgehog (Mega Drive) The star of the show. We don't really have any retro gaming stores in my town, but managed to find this with Heroes at a Collectors DVD store. In the box, with the cart and manual! Super good condition too and relatively cheap, only £15. I'm not big on the collectors scene so that may be a bad deal but I've never seen one in the wild before and I mean come on. That's pretty awesome.
All in all super happy with this. Still always on the lookout for a select few games (most notably Sonic Colours DS and Sonic Adventure DX) but I'm always finding new stuff!

I've been decorating the space where I keep my consoles with Amiibo, figurines, action figures, and other merchandise that is relevant to the content of the console. I have my "main" collectibles shelf too, so i'm really only using characters I have multiples of, or characters that don't fit on the shelf.
The very toppest tier is my Wii shelf, though i'm honestly also counting it as Gamecube. I'm trying to represent New Super Mario Bros but it's missing yellow Toad. Wind Waker, Metroid Prime, and Sonic Adventure is repped here... also my Universeal Studios dancing piranha plant, mostly because I have nowhere else to put it.
My NES Shelf has classic Link and Mario, Ice Climbers, Little Mac, ROB ( because i'll never likely be able to get a real Rob ) the Duck Hunt Dog, and classic Kirby ( Though he'd probably better be displayed with Gamboy, but I have no Gameboy shelf yet. ) Also, those Battle Toads figures, which are much larger than I was expecting, and arrived super late. I was tempted to cancel the order, they were very pricy. But I got attached. I wonder if they'll ever release Pimple... oh yeah, and the NES controller Piggy Bank. There's also some classic Donkey Kong decal my brother got me from a game stop.
My N64 shelf which is the most crowded ( also I need to dust my N64. Despite the way it looks, i've been playing it quite a bit lately. ) I got the Banjo and Conker Totaku, and and OOT Link figure. Yoshi representing Yoshi Story, and the Hot Wheels Diddy Kong as a makeshift Diddy Kong Racing figure, though the kart is all wrong. I put Gruntilda back there because of the actual Gruntilda doll in both Banjo games, she also turns up in a lot of the BK mods I love playing. But she takes up so much space I may need to relocate her until I get a bigger room and more shelving... whenever that may be. I kind of want to put all the N64 era Taco Bell toys on this shelf but there is no room, also, I don't have any of them, they all seem relatively cheap to get on E-bay though, with the exception being the Yoshi. It's just as well because that Yoshi looks more SNES era anyway...
And then you have my sad, sad SNES shelf... Classic Yoshi. Donkey Kong. And Ness. Really not sure what else I can even do for this shelf without removing a character I don't have doubles of from the main shelf. I do have a Geno Doll that I ordered off Etsy on the way, or at least it should be on the way in February or March. He'll spice it up a bit. What SNES specific stuff could I put here though? I know Jakks Pacific made Star Fox toys but they're all kind of big, and are closer to the N64 designs than their SNES versions. There's criminally no ALTTP figures that I am aware of.
In the future I'd like a shelf for handhelds, a Sega Genesis, and a Playstation, they hopefully won't be difficult to decorate, and hopefully by then, I won't be stuck using this tiny corner tower, so i'll have more room. I also would like a shelf for my Switch, which is currently just sitting next to my PC monitor.
#mind the white garlands#my room is currently decorated for christmas#and they were the only things I couldn't easily remove for the photo#god i miss my old room#i miss having four large shelves instead of just the one#and a dinky corner tower

How You make You custom Cosmo from Sonic X figure? I REALLY WANT a cosmo figure in Jakks Pacific Sonic figure scale
To give you the sort-of brief version, for the base/parts I used:
A Jakks Pacific Amy figure
Boots from a Jakks Pacific Rouge figure
Hands from a Jazwares Tails figure
Lower legs from an Equestria Girls minis figure(Rainbow Rocks Rarity, to be precise)
2 6mm X 5mm X 2.9mm ball joints (used those to give her elbow articulation)
Mind you it took quite a bit of prep work and sculpting. Oh, and buffing and sanding, before and after doing the sculpting job. Sooo much buffing and sanding.
You don't even have to use all of the listed figures or parts I just listed. Heck, you don't even have to use an official Sonic as your base. This is just how I went about making mine. But, I would highly recommend that at the very least you use an Amy head for your custom Cosmo figure.
This is a complete list of supplies I used to make my Cosmo figure. Keep in mind, it's not necessary for you to use single thing listed here. But the materials that are absolutely necessary, and what you would need at the bare minimum, will be in bold text:
2 Part Apoxie Sculpt (if you can't get it or don't want to use, I've heard cosplay foam clay works as a good enough substitute)
Fine grit sandpaper and cosmetic blocks
Acrylic paint (I personally use Delta Creative Ceramcoat most of the time)
Watercolor brushes and miniature brushes of varying sizes (I mainly watercolor brushes because it helps the paint go on more smooth)
Worbla
Heat gun
Mechanical pencil and a good quality eraser (I use it to sketch the eyes before paint)
Toothpicks or wire (I sculpted her rosebud buns onto toothpicks and then used the tooth picks to anchor them onto the head)
Sharpies or paint markers (to better color match the joints, as it's easier to do since paint chips off of them the majority of the time even when sanding them and using watered down paint)
Derwent watercolor pencils (you can easily just paint the eyes on, but I prefer to use this method as it's easier for me to do)
Tin foil (in order to fill in the head before sculpting the back of her hair on, and not to use as much apoxie clay)
White felt (I used this stuff to make her petal skirt, but there are many other potential fabrics and materials you could use too)
X-acto knife (for the love of God be super careful and don't accidentally slice a chunk of your finger off like I did once)
Gorilla super glue or hot glue
Mr. Super Clear UV Cut Flat- or Duraclear Matte or Ultra-Matte
I can further go into the specifics of how I made my Cosmo figure. But as far as what I used to make, well, there you go.

went on a roadtrip yesterday with my sister to try and find the new jakks line because i reallyyyy want jet the hawk and super silver. 3 states and probably over 2 dozen stores later we... did not find them. at all. anywhere. but i did grab some new stuff for my collection! the tornado set was on clearance and walmart checklanes remain excellent for finding older 2.5" waves. still haven't found a silver or neutral chao but i'm hopeful for the future :-)
(i already have 4" chaos and knuckles and 2.5" dark chao and metal so i grabbed those for @tinyaibou!)
[id: a photo of various sonic the hedgehog merchandise: a plush of classic metal sonic; two 4" jakks-pacific action figures (knuckles the echidna and chaos); a sonic 2 tornado biplane playset; six 2.5" jakks-pacific action figures (modern eggman, classic metal sonic, dark chao, classic knuckles, classic eggman, and motobug); a vector die-cast car; and three good2grow juices featuring sonic, shadow, and tails. /end id]

No Dog Man Merch at Jakks Pacific/Disguise SDCC 2024 Panel
Well, we didn't get any new Dog Man (and the upcoming DreamWorks Dog Man Movie) stuff from their Jakks Pacific/Disguise Costumes San Diego Comic Con 2024 Panel. What we got are licensed costumes (like Kirby, Bluey, Super Mario, Minecraft, Bridgerton), and toy releases. Some are re-releases including the Super Mario figures, new Sonic stuff (the ice cream bar plush is so cool however it's a GameStop exclusive), Bendy, and The Simpsons.
Sonic Fans are winning tho, but they still haven't got any new Sonic 3 movie merch info.
No surprise announcements? Wait until something good happens!
